“Most of my friends are around my age, and I always encourage them to join SURGE to begin their fitness journey. With proper and consistent training, SURGE has helped me build stronger muscles, improve mobility, and enjoy a healthier, more active lifestyle.”
Philip Chia was 72 and already leading an active lifestyle with regular cycling, swimming, yoga, and golf. He believed that was enough to stay healthy until his daughter, who trains at Surge, encouraged him to try strength training. He began training with Coach King in July 2024, aiming not for aesthetics but to preserve muscle mass as he aged.

In September, Philip underwent knee surgery and returned to training a few months later feeling noticeably weaker, especially in his left leg. With King’s support and a carefully adjusted program, he slowly regained strength and rebuilt his confidence. Each session focused on safe progress, mobility, and stability.
Seven months into his recovery, Philip has dropped weight, improved his balance, and rebuilt muscle across his entire body. His friends noticed the transformation, often commenting on how much stronger, fitter, and healthier he looks. The training not only improved his physical condition but also gave him a renewed sense of confidence and vitality.

Philip recommends Surge to other seniors looking to maintain their independence and strength. He believes that with proper guidance and consistent effort, it is possible to move better, stay active, and enjoy a healthier lifestyle at any age.
